The difference between 10w40 and 10w50 is how thin the oil gets when its hot 10w50 oil wont thin out as quickly as 10w40 when oil temperature goes up but it also might be too thick during regular running in cold temperatures I think youll be fine though. 10W is the winter weight cold but hot the 30 vs 50 the 50 is thicker and is good for maintaining oil pressure but as far as a lubricant 30 is better. For me I keep it simple becuase I sell the products and recommend them it seems easier for me to explain to a customer to use the Motorcycle Specific stuff. One thing I believe in is NOT using a full syn oil for break-in.

Or you could have a 20w50 that runs to the thick side that could only be 1cST off of being a 30w60 oil.
